The Story of FYO

For Your Occasion Event Rentals is a family-owned and operated event rental company proudly serving North Carolina. Owners Chris and Tara purchased FYO in early 2022 — but the story of how it all started is a little unexpected.

Every year, Chris and Tara host a Kentucky Derby Party for family and friends. In 2021, they began calling around, looking to rent a tent for the event, only to discover that every rental company in the area was completely sold out. Their final phone call was to For Your Occasion Event Rentals, where they learned the business was actually in the process of closing and no longer renting tents.

But Tara had one more question: “Would you sell us the tent instead?”

That single question sparked a conversation that quickly turned into a much bigger opportunity. What started as a search for a tent eventually became the purchase of the entire business — and the rest is history.

Born and raised in North Carolina, Chris and Tara have deep roots in the community and a passion for bringing people together through memorable events. They understand firsthand both the excitement and the stress that can come with planning special occasions.

Chris brings a background in mechanical operations, project management, and logistics, while Tara’s experience includes business development, marketing, sales, and management. Together, they’ve combined their strengths to grow and re-energize FYO into a thriving local business focused on exceptional service, reliability, and helping customers celebrate life’s biggest moments.

Today, For Your Occasion Event Rentals proudly provides tents, tables, chairs, linens, dance floors, staging, and more for weddings, parties, corporate events, and community gatherings across the region. Chris and Tara look forward to continuing to serve the community and helping create unforgettable events for years to come.
